A fortuitous encounter with a university furniture designer, years after first entering the darkroom with my father, eventually led to the obvious connection between wood and photography. The beauty of a traditionally made camera was an irresistible draw the equal of my passion for photography. Woven through all the subsequent years has been a love for the challenge of designing and building photographic instruments.
Following in a 30 year lensless camera tradition, Mottweiler Studio introduces the new WoodBläk 66 medium-format, lensless camera.
For 6 by 6 cm square format images on 120 roll film. In Yellow Cedar, the camera weighs 7.5 ounces and measures 5 3/4 inches wide by 1 9/16 inch deep by 3 3/8 inches high. The current knobs add 1/2 inch to the height. The shutter also extends upward by 1/2 inch.
A magnetically secured back is easily removed for installing film reels. The 6 by 6 format produces 12 images per roll of 120 film. The camera's focal length is ~ 30mm with an f/120 pinhole.
The new Circle Pull sliding shutter is magnetically controlled for ease in use. The brass slider is easily removed for replacement with future shutter variations to include a remotely controlled design.
Depending on available stock, the knob selection can be Beech, White Oak, Alaskan Yellow Cedaror Cherry. Early orders get their choice of knob, which can be selected before shipment.
This camera will ship ~ 2 weeks after your order is complete.
My aim is to inspire and facilitate the creative journey with functional and beautiful photographic tools. I hope that my cameras could easily stand along side the great marques of the first half century of photographic history.
