Maker of beautiful specialty cameras for 40 years

A fortuitous encounter with a university furniture designer while I was in art school helped chart my coarse for the intervening years. Making things has been the constant thread that runs through all of the challenges I’ve undertaken.

The beauty of a traditionally made wooden camera was an irresistible draw the equal of my passion for photography. Woven through all the subsequent years has been a love for the challenge of designing and building photographic instruments. My start in furniture making returned to the forefront on occasion and a stint working with guitar builder Bill Collings kept me occupied learning yet another new craft.

An endless variety of design and fabrication opportunities and interests led me to continuous experimentation with ways of thinking about design and making things. While my camera making endeavors are winding down, I’m finding new areas to explore such as boatbuilding and Tenkara fly fishing, Jewelry and art objects, Minutero style street photography, and carving. Occasionaly, the fruits of these endeavors will find their way here.

My passion is making thoughtful, beautiful objects - some with a very specific purpose and others with no particular reason to exist except to be inspiring, thought provoking or humorous.
